Golenor's Geometry Gala Downloads

Golenor's Geometry Gala is a multimedia tour through several geometric theorems and concepts. In order to take full advantage of its capabilities, a few preparations must be made. Please make all the necessary downloads before going any further.

1	Update Your Browser	The images of Golenor's Geometry Gala are best viewed in an updated version of your web browser. Nearly all of these updates are FREE. If you are using Internet Explorer, visit Microsoft's Home Page (www.microsoft.com) and go to Downloads. If you are using Netscape Navigator, go to Netscape's Home Page (www.netscape.com) and go to the Download page.
2	Update Your Media Player	The clarity of the geometry movies of Golenor's Geometry Gala is greatly enhanced if your media player is up-to-date. Again, nearly all of these upgrades are FREE. Window's Media Player works well and you can download a current version on Microsoft's Home Page (www.microsoft.com). A good version of Real Player also performs very well. Download a free version at the Real Player website (www.realplayer.com).
3	Download the Camtasia Codec	This is the MOST important download of the bunch, and is the trickiest to find. All the geometry movies were produced using Camtasia Software. If you have Camtasia, you already have the proper codec. The codec simply gives your computer the language to read the movie files. The codec file is very small, but absolutely necessary. Follow these steps: 1. Go to the TechSmith website (www.techsmith.com). 2. Scroll down and select Downloads. 3. Scroll down to the Camtasia Downloads section of the page. Click on the phrase "The standalone TechSmith Screen Capture Codec" and save the file to your hard drive. 4. Install the codec by opening the file and follow the prompts.
4	Install Geometer's Sketchpad	In order to view the sketches of the movies, you must have some type of Geometer's Sketchpad. You can download a trial version of the program, buy a full or student version or download Java Sketchpad. The trial version and Java Sketchpad are not full versions of Geometer's Sketchpad so some of the sketch files may not come through properly. Visit the distributors of Geometer's Sketchpad, Key Curriculum Press (www.keypress.com) and decide for yourself which version you would like.
