Field trips have long been valued as a way to expand learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Encouraging students to process what they experienced during a field trip is also an important aspect of enriching the learning experience. With the growing availability of digital cameras, image editing and presentation software, students can now easily capture what occurred on a field trip to document what they experienced and create a presentation to share that knowledge with others. In this activity, a field trip to a nature center as part of an ecology unit will be used to illustrate the value of digital images to support learning.
