Fieldtrips and Digital Cameras

There are many ways that students could be assessed with this activity. Some possible suggestions are:

  • Create a rubric and evaluate each student group's presentation. Make sure that the rubric includes not only content requirements but also evaluates the students on their creativity and presentation skills.

  • After having each student group present their image collection, assign each student to create a collage of images that illustrates what they would like others to know about the trip. These collages could then be displayed around the school to foster interest in this trip with future students or parents.

  • Assign your students to write a thank you letter to the personnel from the field trip location. Have them include as part of the letter a description of the experience that they had that helped them learn or make new connections with the subject of the trip. This will not only allow you to evaluate learning but also will serve to foster good will with the field trip site.
