Take Photos

Once you have completed a detailed storyboard, you can begin composing and taking your photos.

Here are some tips for photographing.

  • Get close to your subject and fill the frame primarily with your subject.

  • Don't include a subject's full body length unless it is necessary for the message you are communicating. In many cases, a shot from the waist up is sufficient.

  • Watch the background. Don't take photos facing a bright window. Your subject will be too dark in the resulting photo.

  • In most cases, try to keep the camera on the same level as the subject. Sometimes, however, you can improve the background by positioning yourself to shoot up or down at your subject.

  • For a vertical subject, try turning the camera sideways and taking a vertical photo.

Most importantly, don't do anything UNSAFE while you are taking these photographs!
