Synthesize information from letters, newspaper articles, and tables in order to write a letter.
Comprehend the significance of war for families with family members involved in it.

Materials:
A computer with Internet access
Printouts of the letter from Thomas Garber, a newspaper article, table one, table two, and definitions of terms students may not know.
