California Gold Rush

Procedures:

            Students will read the information on the various groups of people involved in the California Gold Rush.  Students will summarize the role of each of the groups and briefly describe what life was like for them during the Gold Rush.

            Students will list names of women that were important in the Gold Rush and describe their contributions.  Each student could be responsible for an individual or individuals.  A booklet of important women could be created by the class.

            Students will choose a group of people (i.e. women, African Americans, Chinese, etc.) and after researching their contributions, write a 2-3 page paper describing what life was like for them during the Gold Rush.  Students will also include a list of individuals, including their contributions, who were important during the Gold Rush.
