Rita Mae Brown
By Bonnie M.
I chose Rita Mae Brown because she is the master of
my hunt, Oak Ridge. A master of a fox hunt is a person who owns all of
the hounds, is in a red coat and leads the hunt. But now, no one
actually kills the fox. You just like to see them.
Rita Mae brown was born on November 28, 1944, in
Hanover Pennsylvania, and is 55. She is the author of 27 books, some which
are in the following are:
-
Veanus Envy, 1993
-
Murder at Monticello, 1994
-
Riding Shotgun, 1996
-
Cat on the Scent, 1999
-
Sneaky Pie’s Cookbook, 1999
-
Pawing Through the Past, 2000
She use to live on a Tea Time Farm. She now lives in Nelson
county Virginia. She is a rider and a writer. She plays polo, fox hunts,
and occasionally plays tennis. She rides her horse, Peggie Sue, and lets
people board their horses at her place. She has at least 50 horses. She
has many dogs and cats, also.
I think Rita has made important contributions by
being a female hunt master, and most hunt masters would be males, so she
probably helped women think about being a hunt master. She also has made
important contributions because she has written many, many, books.
